The automotive market is full of all-electric vehicles these days, but only one can brag about being chosen as the Best Electric Vehicle of the Year at the 2024 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Award. The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 aced criteria like value, reliability, and consumer trends to bring home the award in recognition of the lineup’s comfort, space, and top-notch technologies. 

 

Interior Design and Comfort

All models have standard heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheels, and multiple adjustments for the driver’s and passenger’s seats. The Ultimate package includes black leatherette upholstery for the AWD model. LED lights illuminate the cabin, vanity mirrors, and sun-visor extensions. Additionally, there’s an available 64-colour LED ambient lighting with speed-sensitive features. 

The dual-zone automatic temperature control system ensures everybody’s comfort and has a Driver’s Only mode, as well. A centre console provides extra comfort for passengers, with armrests and a storage compartment. Rear seats can be folded into a 60/40 split or almost flat.

Infotainment Features

The front console is dominated by two massive 12.3-inch displays, contributing to the IONIQ 6’s impressive interior design. One includes EV functions and a navigation system, while the other is an Electroluminescent Gauge Cluster equipped with an EV Technology Display. All models come from the factory with mobile compatibility (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), SiriusXM, and Hyundai’s BlueLink system. Both models count on standard over-the-air software updates. 

EV Technologies

The Preferred Long Range AWD has an ultrafast charging system of 800V/350kW. Indeed, the flagship model has a few exclusive technologies that improve performance and efficiency. Upgrades include Drive Mode Select, Electronic Parking Brake with Vehicle AutoHold, battery thermal management, heat pump, and a preconditioning system.  

Safety Technologies and Driving Assists

The new IONIQ 6 helps you keep your eyes on the road with a head-up display where you can check information like speed, distance from vehicles ahead, and navigation. The steering wheel is interactive, and it’s equipped with pixel lights. This feature is programmed to driver warnings and can be activated via voice command. 

All models count on the Hyundai SmartSense comprehensive suite of safety features based on radar, cameras, and motion detection systems. Standard features include Smart Cruise Control, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5, and driver attention warning.

The Smart Cruise Control system is standard for all models and allows you to preset distance from vehicles ahead and speed limits. The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5 system is an advanced assist to warn you about cyclists, pedestrians, and junction-turning.
