Design
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid features a next-generation design language that Hyundai calls Parametric Dynamics. It is a bold step away from what Hyundai was known for and pushes the brand to an entirely new level. The front grille is sharp, and there is no way anyone will miss it; the rear fascia features a full-width H-shaped light that adds another layer to the arching roofline. Interior

Sitting front and centre is a setup comprised of two 10.25-inch screens that reside under one piece of glass. The left screen is the instrument cluster for the driver, while the second takes care of the infotainment, audio, and navigation functions. An optional eight-speaker Bose sound system lets you enjoy the complete setup. The driver will also be able to utilize wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto with the many other creature comforts consumers have come to expect from Hyundai.
Powertrain
The very first Elantra Hybrid arrives with a new powertrain that achieves some of the most impressive efficiency numbers in the segment. An efficient 1.6-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine pushes out 104 horsepower and 109 lb-ft. of torque. In comparison, an electric motor conjures up an impressive 43 horsepower and an astonishing 125 lb-ft. of torque. A 1.32 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery feeds the electric motor the juice it needs. When these two power sources work in cohesion, net horsepower output is 139 and a more crucial 195 lb-ft. of torque.
The Elantra HEV engine is paired with a new six-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels. Unlike the Honda Insight and Toyota Corolla that both use CVTs, Hyundai wants the driver to have a superior driving experience. The real advantage to this complete system is a combined average fuel economy of 4.7 L/100 km.
